“I’m going to kill myself, Mama”, says Jessie as she informs her mother, Thelma, that this will be the last evening of her life. What follows is a verbal tug-of-war between these two women as Thelma tries to keep her daughter from carrying out her plan. Set in the living room/kitchen of their small family home, tension rises as time ticks closer to the deadline Jessie has set. Marsha Norman’s Pulitzer Prize and Susan Smith Blackburn award winning play is a lucid and penetrating drama performed by two actresses in one-act over 90 minutes.
