NextFest
is an annual springtime multi-disciplinary arts festival in Edmonton,
Alberta. The edgy festival is dedicated to providing professional
development opportunities and exposure to emerging artists in
theatre, film, music, dance, and visual art.
NeXtFest Anthology features five plays from the festival's
first five years, 1996-2000. This selection of new works is a wacky,
quirky, humorous, dark, uplifting, mysterious, and, above all, highly
entertaining collection from fresh new talents. This anthology
contains:
SuperEd by Chris Craddock: His first play; an
autobiographical monologue. (Premiered at NextFest in 1996; Cast: 1
man)
The Key to
Violet's Apartment by Paul Matwychuk
Tuesdays and Sundays is a one-act drama by
Daniel Arnold with Medina Hahn.
This powerful story follows a teenage couple through the overwhelming
passions of first love. Tuesdays & Sundays
was inspired by a tragically true Canadian love story. (Premiered
at NextFest 2000; Cast: 1 woman, 1 man)
No. Please by Sean Callaghan
Benedetta Carlini by Rosemary Rowe
