About the Book:

This is the book of original monologues and scenes that young teen actors (13 to 17) have been waiting for... one that is both challenging and close to home.

Whether a teen needs a solo piece, or a scene to perform with another actor, Acting Scenes and Monologues for Young Teens offers age-appropriate scenes with humour, drama, and crisp dialogue. The material ranges from high drama to comedy, mostly set in present day with a couple of period pieces thrown in to show an actor's range, with universal themes: friendship, jealousy, parent's divorce, asking a girl to dance, cheating on a test. Teen actors searching for relevant material for their acting classes and auditions will be able to sink their teeth into these scenes and monologues and show their depth and skill. "Notes From The Coach" are hints and suggestions throughout the book designed to provide different ways to interpret the material. Famous actor quotes and insights are also sprinkled throughout Acting Scenes and Monologues for Young Teens.

Professional instructors and high school drama teachers will all love this book.

What people say:

"At last... age appropriate scenes so that young actors can develop the skills they need to learn, grow and compete! Bo's experience in the field makes this book invaluable." — Mary Lou Bell, Emmy Award-winning Director

"Bo has written 50 acting scenes that teens can sink their teeth into. It's a book that should appeal to all young actors: from those just starting out, to the 'old pros'. These are the kinds of scenes that an actor could perform when having a general audition with a Casting Director, or when they are trying to get agency representation." — John McCarthy, CSA casting director

"I love the scenes! They play as well as they read. My students are as jazzed about them as I am." — Robert Barker, high school drama instructor

"We have several favorite scenes, and love the humor in the introduction. High school drams teachers will love this book." — Lisa Megquier, high school drama instructor
