About the Play:

An Apple for Teacher is a one-act comedy by Percy Forst. The antics of a classroom and a young teacher struggling to gain control over a group of active, fun-loving students is the basis of a comedy revolving around conflicts between the class bully, the teacher's pet, and the "brown-noser."

An Apple for Teacher is a schoolroom comedy made up of one liners, slapstick, and "shtick" that is set in the classroom of any schoolhouse in any small town. Alicia Peabody, the richest girl in school, lords it over her classmates until she makes the fatal mistake of tattling on Swat Simmonds, the toughest boy in school. Swat vows to have vengeance on Alicia for squealing on him, and the way he proceeds to get even with her is riotous. Esther Drake, the harassed young teacher and Carter Drake, handsome young teacher-principal, announce their intention of getting married. The School Board appoints a new teacher, who comes well prepared for her new assignment.

An Apple for Teacher is very easy to present and rehearse. For the most part the pupils sit at their desks during the action of the play.
