Boardwalk Melody Hour Murders
is a roaring
mystery-comedy is set at the Imperial Ballroom in Atlantic City,
where guests are watching a live radio broadcast. The time is March,
1933. Prohibition is in full swing. Host Sammy "Pretty Boy"
Bambino has his hands full with a cadre of guests, crooks, and ladies
of the night. This evening the famous sultry, silent screen star Miss
Ruby Divine, will debut her singing talents. But before a note is
sung, a baby is snatched, a prisoner has escaped from the pen, a
G-man arrives disguised as a nun, and the bullets start flying. This
is non-stop interactive mystery comedy at its best, set in a time and
place audiences will never forget. They play an active role in
solving the crime using clues they discover and decode. There are
even some small roles for some of them to play during the show. Those
who correctly guess the murderer qualify for a prize drawing. It's an
evening of non-stop fun and laughs and a show that is one of the most
effective, well thought out, and well-written, interactive mystery
plays.
Boardwalk Melody Hour Murders was
first performed in 1988 by Murder A La Carte Theatre Troupe in the
Imperial Ballroom of a popular casino in Atlantic City on the
Boardwalk. The play has
become a popular choice for school and community dinner
theatre
productions.
