About the Play:

HARD TO FIND BOOK, only a very limited number of copies are still available.

Capture Me is a full-length drama by Judith Thompson. The play is centred on a kindergarten teacher who, while searching for her birth mother, is stalked by her violent ex-husband. It is an investigation of fear and how this emotion comes to determine each of the characters' destinies.

Capture Me is the story of a funny, free-spirited woman and a mysterious refugee who find unexpected love. It focuses on the harrowing experience of Jerry Joy Lee, a junior-kindergarten teacher in Toronto whose world is suddenly invaded by an unwelcome reunion with her ex-husband, Dodge Kingston. Dodge had vowed to find his ex-wife and kill her in seven years, and it is now seven years later. We follow them as they flee from their greatest fears and toward their deepest needs. A gripping play that unfolds like a dream.

Capture Me premiered in 2004 at the Tarragon Theatre in Toronto.

What people say:

"Capture Me takes the kind of risks that keeps theatre powerfully alive and kicking. Connecting the lives of a kindergarten teacher, the traumatized Islamic immigrant with whom she falls in love, the insanely abusive former husband who is stalking her, and the icy, mortally ill mother whom she struggles to understand, Thompson achieves an intensity that owes as much to the jagged poetry of her writing as to the stark conflicts she stages. Capture Me is crucial reading for all those who like their theatre as strong as it comes." — Janice Kulyk Keefer, Canadian novelist and poet
