About
the Play:
Death of a Don is a full-length comedic mystery by
Ronald K. Myroup. It seems everyone is nursing a grudge
against aging mob leader Don Giovani. When he turns up dead, will it
be one of his children, his wife, or rival boss Rocky "Studds"
Malone who takes the rap? It's King Lear meets The Godfather in a
comedic spoof on Hollywood's version of mobster movies.
Death of A Don is a murder mystery with a comic twist.
Godfather Don Giovanni clings to the traditions of a bygone era. The
tired crime lord must battle a most dysfunctional mob family. The
youngest daughter wants to be a rock star, and youngest son wants to
be a poet. The older daughter, for whom he is arranging a marriage,
wants to take charge of the operation, while his eldest son has a
crazy idea for expanding the family "business." Even his
wife is tired of black dresses, no vacations and blood splattered
laundry. When the Don is murdered during his daughter's wedding, the
family tries to figure out whodunit and every family member has his
or her reasons for killing him. Add a reluctant groom, an angry
mistress, a missing will and a secret passageway and you have a
one-set, two-act shotgun wedding Italian style!
Death of A Don premiered in 1994 at the Melrose Theatre in
Hollywood. Since then the
play has been performed in community theatre productions.
Cast: 4 female, 5 male
