About the Play:
Epic Love and Pop Songs
has become a favourite of acting teachers for Female Monologues, Male
Monologues, and Female/Male Scenes.
Epic Love and Pop Songs is a
full-length drama by Phoebe Eclair-Powell. Remember
your best friend? No, the other one. The one that liked to lie. Maybe
it's time they 'fessed up. Maybe Doll and Ted should start telling
the truth. Epic Love and Pop Songs
is a smart, funny play about love, teenage friendship, and growing
up.
Epic Love and Pop Songs
is a two-hander about about teenage friendship and the pressures of
growing up. Doll and Ted are
two platonic best friends,
and self-proclaimed freaks. Doll is on the mic, Ted on backing
vocals, they are storytellers. Lies brought them together but the
truth could tear them apart. This
is what happens when the lights come on, you're singing your heart
out, you've been sick on your shoes, and you realize you might just
have to grow up. Epic Love and Pop Songs
is a unique and unusual story about friendship, love, loss and lies,
set to the sounds of live epic pop songs.
Epic Love and Pop Songs
was first performed at the Pleasance Dome during the 2016 Edinburgh
Festival Fringe with a cast of fresh young drama school graduates.
The play has become a
favourite scene study vehicle in acting classes and workshops and is
regularly performed in fringe
and school
theatre productions.
