About
the Play:
Evil Dead: The
Musical (High School Version) is a full-length musical comedy by
George Reinblatt. Based on the Evil Dead cult classic
films, this hilarious, record-breaking Canadian musical tells the
tale of 5 college kids who travel to a cabin in the woods and
accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons.
And although it may sound like a horror, it's not! The songs are
hilariously campy and the show is bursting with more farce than a
Monty Python skit.
Evil Dead: The Musical (High School Version) has none of
the swearing – all of the blood! Takes all the elements of the cult
classic films The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army of
Darkness and combines them into one of the craziest theatrical
experiences of all time. It unearths the old familiar story: boy and
friends take a weekend getaway at abandoned cabin, boy unleashes
ancient evil spirit, friends turn into Canadian Demons, boy fights
until dawn to survive. As musical mayhem descends upon this sleepover
in the woods, "camp" takes on a whole new meaning with
uproarious numbers like "All the Men in My Life Keep Getting
Killed by Candarian Demons" and "What the Heck Was That?"
It will have audiences rolling in their seats and screaming for more
and more blood. This show has fun with the horror genre and, in doing
so, appeals to a wide audience. And with this combination of blood,
jokes, cheesy effects and awesome musical numbers, Evil Dead: The
Musical (High School Version) is unlike any show you’ve ever
seen.
Evil Dead: The
Musical (High School Version) premiered in 2017 at Stagedoor
Manor in Loch Sheldrake, New York. This full-length adaptation of the
hilarious off-Broadway musical is tailor-made for high-school and
middle-school performers.
Cast: 3 to 7 women, 4 to 6 men, 1 to 8 either gender, expandable
