About
the Play:
Future Thinking is a full-length comedy by Eliza Clark.
Chiara is a 23 year old starlet,
spoiled and desperate for her stage mom and bodyguard to stay out of
her way. Peter is a pet photographer who also happens to be Chiara's
obsessed, middle-aged stalker-fan. When Peter throws caution to the
wind and ignores the restraining order that's meant to keep him away
from Chiara, their worlds come together at Comic Con.
Future Thinking about a
spoiled starlet and a middle-aged pet photographer whose worlds
collide at Comic-Con. Middle-aged super fan Peter finds himself in a
makeshift interrogation room at the mercy of Comic Con security after
violating the restraining order placed against him by his favorite
television starlet. Meanwhile, spoiled starlet Chiara is holed up in
a hotel room, doing battle with her controlling "Mom-ager,"
a Kris Jenner-like Svengali figure, and bodyguard, trapped by the
demands that come with being a rising star. Peter is determined to
fulfill his destiny: a meeting with the twenty-three-year-old where
he can deliver her an important and mysterious message. All Chiara
wants is for her mom and her bodyguard to get lost, preferably
together. As Peter's fantasy (which includes visions of another
dimension where he and the pop star object of his affections live
happily ever after) and Chiara's reality collide, the offbeat comedy
of Future Thinking
unfolds.
Future Thinking premiered
