About the Book:
RARE BOOK, only a very limited number of copies
are still available.
An astonishing collection of essays on film, art
and politics, from this Ojibwe artist, writer, and filmmaker, who
died tragically young. From reinterpreting Hitchhiker to Leni
Riefenstahl and Smoke Signals, from John Ford to The Karate Kid and
internal Colonialism, Leah Renae Kelly displays an
unflinching, unapologetic and often ferocious intellect. Includes a
powerfully moving biographical and political preface from her
husband, Ward Churchill.
Leah Renae Kelly (1970-2000) was an Ojibwe
artist, writer, and filmmaker. Raised in Winnipeg, she sought to seek
knowledge and wisdom in her journeys in the many countries she
visited and the many people she met. She eventually settled in
Boulder, Colorado where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and
Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado.
