About
the Play:
Live to Tell is a one-act drama by Eric Coble. Three
vulnerable teen girls, Alison, Makayla, and Isabella, share their
firsthand experiences with human trafficking. Live to Tell is
told in direct address style, and the girls' stories are revealed
reflectively and not through explicit action. Particularly
suitable for schools and play contests.
Live to Tell is the story of three teenage girls from very
different backgrounds who reveal how they were preyed upon by savvy
predators and trapped in the world of sex trafficking. Whether you're
escaping from conflicts at home, within yourself or a country at war,
you can become a target for human traffickers. With spirit, humour
and honesty, three vulnerable 15-year-old girls, Alison, Makayla and
Isabella, lead us through their harrowing descents – and escapes –
from being used as property to reclaim their worth as human beings.
It's scary, ugly, funny, and hopeful. Live to Tell was created
from interviews with dozens of survivors, law enforcement, social
workers, and others.
Live to Tell premiered in 2020 at Palm Beach Dramaworks in
West Palm Beach, Florida and was performed at various Palm Beach
County middle schools as part of a professional touring program. The
play has been performed
in middle
school and high school productions.
