About the Book:
Making Stage Props is a book for anyone involved in
prop-making who wishes to explore the wealth of materials and
techniques open to them.
Prop makers everywhere, whether
amateur, student, or professional, now have available to them a
broader range of products and processes than every before.
Age-old traditional techniques are still used alongside the
revolutionary materials of the last half-century, and now increased
awareness of safety issues has lead to a new generation of products.
Supported by over 200 photographs and
drawings, Making Stage Props covers:
• planning, costing and scheduling;
• tools and safety;
• working with wood, steel, and clay;
• making and repairing furniture;
• painting and finishing;
• and much more.
What people say:
"...the
amount of information Wilson packs into this compact book is amazing,
and it has something for prop-makers of all skills, whether new to
the field, or experienced artisans. I feel strongly that it is one of
the few 'necessary' books for prop-makers, and even for prop people
in general." — Eric Hart, Props Master at
Triad Stage in North Carolina
