About
the Book:
Meisner for Teens is
truly a first. Never before has a book for teen actors offered these
specific and simple ways to open your heart, your mind, and your soul
to your acting partners and to the world around you.
Larry Silverberg is one
of the world's foremost authorities on the Sanford Meisner
technique of acting and an internationally acclaimed author. Just as
thousands of students have done in his workshops for teens all around
the world, as you absorb the lessons in Meisner for Teens, you
will learn how to avoid the traps of bad acting and you will awaken
to the specific ingredients that make acting thrilling, joyous and
breathtakingly real. You will discover that the pressures of
"performing for the audience" will lift, the worries about
"am I good enough" will evaporate and the fears of fully
expressing yourself will disappear. This "class in a book"
will help and guide you toward growing as an actor and an artist who
has the courage and the strength to be completely who you are, to be
totally yourself, to reclaim your unique voice and your truthful
point of view and to become a true actor for life!
There is urgency here! Larry
Silverberg knows how important your acting is to you, he also
knows the pressures you face every day in your life and how that
often gets in the way of being truly free to act. The sad fact is
that 95 percent of actors are working in ways that are false,
artificial, hollow and lifeless. Now, with the lessons offered in
Meisner for Teens, you will rise to the top 5 percent of all
actors. Moving, intimate, and profoundly human, this Meisner
guidebook by renowned author and master acting coach, Larry
Silverberg, offers you the keys to working in ways that are
deeply passionate, vibrantly alive, simple, and true.
What
people say:
"Silverberg
brings another indispensable resource to young actors with his
workbook instruction guide on the Meisner technique. Silverberg
speaks directly to teenagers and challenges them to think critically
about their purpose in becoming a character and living truthfully on
stage. What I love about this book is its interactive nature. Acting
is doing, and here Silverberg engages teens in his writing so they
don’t get lost in his instruction. In Meisner for Teens,
performers define their desires, outline their technique, and refine
their skills of listening and observation. For young performers eager
for all-encompassing training, Meisner for Teens is
a must-have." — Backstage
"When
Larry writes, it is as if he is talking directly to you. You feel in
personal touch with his enthusiasm, his passion and his insight. Take
it from me, it is a good feeling." — April Shawhan,
UCLA School of Theatre
