The Mercy Show is about many things. It is informed by sources historical and literary, and is infused with contemporary politics and media manipulation. It is a circus in which the strong are obsessed with control, and weak are their betters.

Cast: 6 women and 4 men (flexible casting) plus various jugglers, musicians, and dancers can be added to taste.

About the Playwright:

Tim Etherington's play The Mercy Show was first produced at the Union Theatre in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada in 1992. The Union Theatre was an important, accessible theatre for experimental plays, which was run by a revolving membership of artists from 1989 to 1996.
