The acclaimed Samuel French Off Off Broadway Original Short Play
Festival in Manhattan (commonly referred to as OOB) is America's
leading short play festival. The annual OOB Festival originated in
1975 and has since attracted US and international short plays that
may be up to 15 pages in length from countries like Canada,
Singapore, and the United Kingdom.
Off Off Broadway Festival Plays, 42nd Series is a
collection of short plays selected by a panel of judges that included
New York playwrights, artistic directors, and industry leaders as the
most important plays of the 44rd OOB Festival. Over the course of
five days, the festival presented 30 plays and musicals, each running
10-30 minutes in length and selected from over 850 submissions.
Five short plays and one short musical were named the winners of the
2018 Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival. The six
winning authors are: Gracie Gardner,

Nelson Diaz-Marcano,
Charlie Cohen,
Christyn Budzyna, and
Helen Park.
Rabiosa by Nelson
Diaz-Marcano: A one-woman show that pits a fiery Puerto Rican
woman against Hurricane Maria as she demands the hurricane give back
what it took away. The battle is on, the lasso is ready, but will the
island survive? Ten-minute play. (Cast: 1 female)

Gertie does her best to rise to the occasion, with a little help from
a new friend. Short musical comedy. (Cast: 2 female, 2 male)

Better by Vince
Gatton: Two women working on the line of a poultry-processing
plant in Arkansas share many things, including their views about
personal improvement; but when those views unexpectedly diverge, old
cracks break wide open. (Cast: 2 female)
The Ferberizing of Coral
by Patrick Flynn: Kevin and Karen are vexed by their
child and their parents through their baby monitor as they try to
teach their infant daughter to soothe herself. Ten-minute play.
