About
the Book:
Two successful movie and TV producers provide you with the tools
needed to create, develop, and sell ideas to Hollywood.
You've got a great idea for movie, but only five minutes with a
producer. A good sell could lead you to the kind of blockbuster movie
success that opens all doors for a writer. A bad one could mean a
quick turndown – "Thanks, but no thanks." If only you
knew how to create a great movie pitch, then you could make your
Hollywood dreams a reality. Within the industry, however, there are
those who have honed the act of pitching into a fine art. In How
to Sell Your TV Show and Movie Ideas, you'll learn the art of
Hollywood pitching from the "Pitch King" himself, Robert
Kosberg, who has a reputation for short and concise pitches, and
Emmy Award-winning television producer Jonathan Koch.
They are experts at pitching, Hollywood-style. You will learn:
• What makes an idea a great one.
• How to find or create a great idea.
• How to develop a "high
concept" with a strong plot idea than can be easily summarized.
• What ideas should be avoided.
• What goes into a good pitch.
• How long should a pitch be.
• How to find the right people to
pitch.
• What to say when you contact them.
• How to protect your idea.
• How to "package" an idea
involving specific actors and actresses.
• Necessary writing treatments.
• When it is better to have a full
screenplay, rather than just an idea.
• How pitching a movie differs from pitching a TV show.
What people say:
"When
these guys talk, everyone interested in pitching should listen and
take notes. Their combined track records and knowledge of the subject
are impressive and unbeatable." — Shirley
Neal,
Emmy-winning
television producer
"...almost
everyone knows or knows of Robert Kosberg,
the man who has probably sold more one-sentence pitches to the
entertainment industry than anyone in the history of movies or TV."
— Los Angeles Magazine
