About the Author:
Joy Varley was a public
school educator for 36-year years. She spent most of her career at
the high school level, directing plays and musicals, teaching a
variety of beginning and advanced level theatre courses, and
conducting choral performing ensembles. From 1996-1998, she worked at
WPIX-WB11 Television in New York City where she served as creator and
producer of "Team 11". She won an Emmy Award in 1997 for
Outstanding Musical Composition. She was for 28 years a Choir and
Theater Director at Byram Hills High School (BHHS) in Armonk, New
York where she was named "Teacher of the Year" in 1993.
