About
the Play:
Quiet Summer is a full-length comedy by Marrijane Hayes
and Joseph Hayes. James Clark plans to spend a peaceful summer
concentrating on getting elected president of his country club, a
first step toward becoming District Attorney in the fall. His plans
go astray when his teenage nephew and niece arrive for the summer.
Chaos inevitably ensues, and the campaign, James's love life, and his
dream of being District Attorney are in jeopardy.
Quiet Summer tells the story of James Clark, an attorney
who is determined to win the election for president of his country
club. He is certain this will help him grasp his dream of being
elected District Attorney in the fall. Mr. Clark's quiet, relaxed
summer is cast aside with the arrival of his teenage niece and
nephew, Pamela and Sonny Young. The kids do their best to help James
win the country club election against Mr. Henry Morgan, a major
businessman in town. They even enlist the help of the 112 girls at
the summer camp down the road. He wins his election with inventive
help from the kids, but they also all but wreck James' romance and
turn the house upside down.
Quiet Summer is recommended for school use.
