About
the Play:
Red Riding Hood is a full-length comedy by Allison
Gregory. This wildly inventive
and humorous adaptation puts a spin on the popular fairy tale when a
delivery driver calls into question an actor's production of the
"true story" of Little Red Riding Hood.
Red Riding Hood is a
funny and poignant
adaptation of a very well-known fable that
brings us to the present,
where the "Wolf" is an actor known as Wolfgang, and "Red
Riding Hood" is a Delivery Person. Wolfgang, the greatest actor
in the world, is preparing for the performance of his lifetime in the
"true story" of Red Riding Hood when a delivery driver
carrying a mysterious package interrupts his rehearsal. She boldly
calls into question Wolfgang's story, adamant that he should only
tell the classic tale. The wolf may have dinner plans, but this Red
is courageous, clever and talented. As their story flourishes, a
madcap romp through the popular fairy tale ensues. This lively
adaptation is full of surprise and packed with wolf-sized humour, and
reminds us that when something is important, bravery knows no bounds.
Red Riding Hood premiered
in 2022 at Seattle
Children's
Theatre.
