About the Play:

HARD TO FIND BOOK, only a very limited number of copies are still available.

Sexy Laundry is a full-length romantic comedy by Michele Riml. Henry and Alice, married for 25-years, are trying to find a way to spice up their dormant marriage with a weekend in a swanky hotel room and the help of a good book… (not the Bible). Can they embrace all the wild suggestions Alice keeps pulling from her handy-dandy marriage-saving manual? Is Henry prepared to see his fifty-plus wife, and mother of his children, dressed in black leather?

Sexy Laundry is a laugh-out-loud and moving comedy about long-time marriage and later-life sex. After twenty-five years of marriage, the emergence of love handles and receding hairlines, Alice and Henry have hit a physical plateau. With a "Sex for Dummies" guidebook in hand, Alice convinces Henry into a weekend of alone time in the hopes of seducing him and unearthing her inner vixen. Henry, however, wants to keep things the way they are – comfortable and easy. Exploring every fantasy from leather to lace, Alice and Henry portray every couple's desire to grow together but maintain individuality. Their touching and hilarious rediscovery of themselves and the strength of their marriage will resonate with audiences of all ages.

Sexy Laundry was first seen in the 2002 Vancouver Fringe Festival. Since then the play has gone on to be a smash hit show with multiple runs at professional theatres in the US, Canada and across Europe and is regularly performed in repertory and community theatre productions.

What people say:

"Riml hits all the right notes here. In addition to being hilarious, Sexy Laundry is observant, moving, risqué, and even a bit of a tear jerker." — The Vancouver Sun

"The play does, of course, deal with matters sexual and uses some objectionable language, but in the light of the subject matter, that is virtually inevitable. What makes the play ultimately worth watching, apart from its very real comedic aspect, is its assertion of traditional values of trust, openness, and love." — The B.C. Catholic Herald

"Hilariously realistic… Sexy Laundry does the trick!" — Winnipeg Sun

"While their sparring provides much hilarity, between the barbs are painful and touching moments of a couple scraping the dark corners of their marriage." — L.A. Weekly
