About the Play:

She Kills Monsters is a full-length dramatic comedy by Qui Nguyen. The play centers on average Agnes, who is finally leaving her childhood home following the death of her totally weird sister, Tilly. When she stumbles upon Tilly's Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, Agnes embarks on an action-packed adventure to discover more about her sister than she previously cared to know. This is the revised edition created specially for High School performing groups.

She Kills Monsters deep and fascinating dive into the world of fantasy role-playing games tells the story of high schooler Agnes Evans as she copes with the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly's Dungeons & Dragons design module, she stumbles into an action-packed adventure inside Tilly's imaginary refuge from her adolescent experience, finding herself on an unexpected hero's quest. The play, from acclaimed young playwright Qui Nguyen, is a high-octane adventure laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 1990s pop culture that serves as an homage to the geek and warrior within us all, and a surprisingly sweet tale of friendship, loss, and acceptance.

She Kills Monsters premiered in 2011 at the Flea Theater Off-Off-Broadway in New York City. Since then the play had regional premieres at professional theatres and has been mounted by high schools, colleges, and community theatres.
