Show it in Public: Everything You Need to Know to Show a Film in Public

Author: Graham Peat and Angela Pressburger Publisher: P3 Media Partners Format: Softcover # of Pages: 222 Pub. Date: 2005

About the Book:
Whether you're a mainstream movie impresario waiting in the wings, an event-planner seeking to use a film for a fundraiser, a cause wanting to use film to educate and get the word out, a film society or group, or an individual who is passionately committed to sharing a movie you feel matters, Show it in Public can guide you through the process.
Show it in Public will help you put on a great event, avoid the more common pitfalls — and have fun while you do it. You will learn to: read a film festival catalogue; negotiate with a disgtributor; pick your way through the legal minefield; select a venue; work with cinema staff; create workable solutions for non-cinema screenings; understand digital video projection; communicate with the tech crew; plan and run your event; go that little bit further to really put on a good show; and much, much more.
About the Authors:
Graham Peat is the co-owner of Videomatica, Vancouver's best-known source for movies on DVD. He also hosts and programs film events throughout the year and is passionate about old celluloid.
Angela Pressburger escaped her British film establishment ties by moving to Canada's west coast. For the last ten years she has been an international program consultant at the Vancouver International Film Festival, and has spoken about film and sat on film juries in Europe and North America.
