About
the Book:
Skin Flick is a full-length comedy by Norm Foster.
In the midst of an economic downturn, who wouldn't jump at the chance
to make some extra cash? Skin Flick follows a 'regular',
middle-aged couple as they try to navigate the tough economic
climate, despite having lost their jobs. Frustrated, they stumble
upon the idea of producing a skin flick to make ends meet.
Skin Flick follows a middle-aged couple, Daphne and Rollie,
and their videographer friend, Alex, who find themselves out of work
and out of luck. So when they come across a mistakenly rented X-rated
movie, they get the idea to make their own porno film for some quick
cash. The only problem is none of them want to star in it themselves.
As if on cue, Jill, a feisty telegram messenger, accidentally arrives
on their doorstep, Alex's mild-mannered bookie Byron gets roped in, and
their cast is set. Like fish out of water and deer in headlights,
these lovable characters will keep your audience in stitches. Despite
the title of the play, there's no nudity involved in Skin Flick;
rather, Norm Foster uses innuendo, double entendre, and
suggestion to tell his tale.
Skin Flick premiered in 2009 at Neptune Theatre in Halifax,
Nova Scotia. Since then the
play has been produced widely at
community theatres
across North America.
