About
the Book:
Your Money Matters
Even successful actors don't work all the time. You must be able
to budget your money to make it through any lapse in employment.
Stefanie O'Connell is a professional actress and freelance
personal finance writer who lives by making her budget stretch. In
The Broke and Beautiful Life she will teach you how to start
balancing your work and finances.
Whether you've grown accustomed to getting by on shoestring
savings or a cushy six-figure salary, knowing that days of zero
earnings are always just one closing notice or contract end away is
enough to induce perpetual anxiety.
The beautiful thing about financial planning is that it can serve
to quell the angst that accompanies impending unemployment and
fluctuating income, empowering artists and individuals rather than
serving as a source of stress. To successfully budget on an actor's
income, those with ever-changing earnings can start by getting
grounded in the numbers.
After moving to New York City to become a Broadway actress,
Stefanie O'Connell faced one of two inevitabilities when
coping with unemployment – spiral into debt or learn how to
effectively manage her money. Punctuated with humour, insight, and
essential money management lessons, The Broke and Beautiful Life
offers practical strategies to make smarter financial decisions today
as a means to fulfill the goals and dreams of tomorrow.
Specializing in personal finance (with an emphasis on personal),
Stefanie O'Connell engages those who shy away from the word
"investing," scoff at the word "budget," and
equate interest rates with "snooze fest." She encourages
readers to redefine their relationship with money and approach
budgeting as an exciting and sexy tool to transform from "broke
to beautiful" while enjoying every step along the way.
Whether you are an actor who struggles to make ends meet, or
you're just starting your career and want to get off on the right
foot, this book will help you learn how to do it.
