What
people say:
"I
teach acting to 9th-12th grade theatre students who are
already, at their young age, mired in bad habits, social anxieties
and complex self-images. Getting them to give in to process over
product, work in the 'right now' is a challenge. Larry's insights,
revealed in the pages of this book, will encourage young actors to
work from a place of instinct, intuition and unfettered understanding
of their own human natures. Larry puts things in such simple
straight-forward ways, demystifying and purifying the alchemy of
acting." — Scott Keys,
director of the theater program at Booker High School's renowned
Visual and Performing Arts Program
"Larry
Silverberg cares deeply about actors and acting and his
insights make a vital contribution to the craft. In The End
of Acting Technique, he has distilled his many years of
teaching experience into a gem of a book destined to be on every
actors' required reading list. Beautifully refined and crafted,
Larry's writing is deeply inspirational. As an acting teacher, this
book makes me even more excited to work with acting students. As an
actor, it inspires me to reconsider my practice and ignites my
longing to dive deeper into the work. Larry always finds a way to
sharpen and refine the craft. A must read." — Valerie
Campbell, Associate Professor
Emerita in Drama within the School of Creative and Performing Arts at
the University of Calgary
"In
The End of Acting Technique Larry
Silverberg cuts through the jargon that plagues today's
acting schools and confound their students. Larry takes the
unnecessary 'mystery' out of acting and succinctly gets to the heart
of what actors must do to bring life to the stage or screen. Larry's
approach is simple, but demands an actor's heart, soul, mind,
strength; and a commitment to the craft." — Steven
Pounders, Professor, Department of Theatre Arts, Baylor
University
