About the Author:
Catherine Hardwicke is an American director, screenwriter, and production designer. Trained as an architect at the University of Texas, she started in film as a production designer. Her debut as a feature film co-writer and director was Thirteen. Made for under $2 million, it garnered dozens of accolades, including Best Director at Sundance. Hardwicke has since directed the vampire film Twilight, and the werewolf film Red Riding Hood. Twilight landed Hardwicke in the Guinness Book of Records for the highest-grossing opening weekend for a female director in film history.
