About the Plays:
The anthology
Voices From France is the result of a rich
collaboration between The Banff Centre, the Societé des auteurs et
compositeurs dramatiques, supported by the French Embassy in Canada,
and the Maison Antoine Vitez in France, and features English
translations of five French contemporary plays. The exchange that
begins at The Banff Centre between a playwright and a translator
continues between the reader and the text, and the actor and the
audience.
Plays includes Night Zoo by Michel Azama (translated
by Linda Gaboriau), Baby Stain by Koffi Kwahulé
(translated by David Hormel), The Last Morning by José Pliya
(translated by Maureen LaBonté), Mathilde by Véronique
Olmi (translated by Morwyn Brebner), and The Lighthouse by
Timothée de Fombelle (translated by Don Hannah, based on a
line translation by Glenn Nicholls).
