About the Play:

We Must Kill Toni is a full-length comedy-thriller by Ian Stuart Black. When a distant cousin, pretty Toni, inherits the family fortune, two unscrupulous brothers mull marrying or murdering her to retain the source of their means.

We Must Kill Toni concerns the two young brothers of the Oberon family who live in their mansion with one faithful butler. They are happy until they discover the inheritance has gone to distant cousin Toni. This charming girl is shortly to descend on them, and the problem that faces the two is "Murder or Marriage?" When Toni arrives they have to consider whether (if murder) the means shall be the knife, or poison, or the dungeons, or (if marriage) which of the two is it who must marry her? Ian Stuart Black plays every conceivable variation on the alternate plots of the brothers, and the play is alive with wit and invention.

We Must Kill Toni premiered in 1953 at the Westminster Theatre in the West End of London and in the US in 1963 at The Boothbay Playhouse in Boothbay, Maine. Since then the play was adapted for a movie and is still popular in repertory, college, and community theatres.
