About
the Play:
Who's Under Where? is a full-length farce by Marcia Kash
and Douglas E. Hughes. Two female lingerie designers are at a
hotel for a private meeting with an Italian clothing manufacturer to
set up a $5 million business deal. Unfortunately their suspicious
husbands think that they are having an affair, and complete chaos
ensues with the help of a scantily clad male model and an overzealous hotel security guard.
Who's Under Where? revolves around a pair of
entrepreneurial housewives who design a line of men's
lingerie. Friends Jane and Sybil are about to ink a $5 million deal
with a prominent Italian clothing manufacturer. The designing women
have rented a hotel suite for a very private showing of their
"Passion Fashion Wear" male lingerie line. Only the jet-set Italian designer Bruno Fruferelli is to attend! The male models
are booked, the obligatory champagne is on ice and the sexy lingerie
samples are on display. They have anticipated every
contingency, except the arrival of their husbands at the suite at the same time! Hilarious chaos ensues as their suspicious and jealous husbands jump to the wrong conclusions – especially when they meet the handsome male – thinking their wives are cheating on them. Who's Under Where?
is a classic farce with characters missing each other slightly as
they skim through open and shut doors (and balconies) and, of course,
bumping into each other at the most inopportune moments.
Who's Under Where? was first produced in 1992 by the
Muskoka Festival. This crowd-pleaser has been produced over 100 times
in 8 countries and 5 languages. After more than 20 years it still
breaks box-office records and has audiences howling in the aisles.
The reason is simple – it's FUNNY!
Cast: 2 female, 5 male
What people say:
"...audience members were
actually left hiccuping, gasping for breath and wiping their eyes by
the antics onstage ... a machine-gun paced bit of hysterical
silliness – a farce in the classic tradition." — The
Muskoka Advance
"Sexy lingerie, mistaken
identities, and male models are only part of the lively,
split-your-sides laughing plot of Who's Under Where?
This witty farce keeps you on the edge of your seat all evening,
laughing so hard your stomach hurts ... incredibly funny ... stunning
... brilliant." — The Muskokan
"Hilarious." —
Packet and Times
"High farce ... I recommend
this production." — The Hamilton Spectator
"...a rollicking farce."
— Romford Recorder (UK)
"Can Canadians write this kind
of material? The audience clearly thought so as much of the dialogue
was lost behind gales of laughter ... two hours of non-stop straight
from the gut laughs, fast-paced twists and turns sprinkled liberally
with sight gags and double entendres. Just add a delighted audience
and stir. A huge hit." — The Lindsay Daily Post
"Pure, mindless fun ... spins
happily out of control, powered by its own momentum and the laughter
of the audience ... a particularly well-written play ... that won't
soon be forgotten by the howling audience." — The
Saskatoon Star Phoenix
"The sort of mind that can
come up with a pun like that for the title is unlikely to fail us
when it comes to mounting comic mayhem, and Marcia Kash and Doug
Hughes duly deliver the comic goods." — The Basildon
Standard Recorder (UK)
"A clever, witty comedy ... It
had the crowd roaring so loud that at times the actors could not be
heard." — The Hamilton Spectator
