Why Teachers Go Nuts is a one-act comedy by Preston Powell. Have you ever really wondered why teachers go nuts? An insane discussion of the age old problem: "are teachers driven nuts or are teachers nuts to begin with?"

Why Teachers Go Nuts is a schoolroom farce about an innocent teacher. Moving, unperturbed, in a veritable bedlam of a classroom, and accepting the most insane answers as logical and academically correct, Miss Abigail fails to so much as notice the frantic efforts of her pupils to reduce the classroom to shambles. Harassed by a roomful of pupils who know all the answers, but not of the questions asked, this particular teacher seems to prove the case for heredity.

Why Teachers Go Nuts is particularly suitable for directors who have neither time nor talent at their disposal. All parts, except that of the teacher, are short and easily memorized. Not only that but everyone sits at a desk during the entire action, thus minimizing the awkwardness that mars many a performance.
