About the Book:
Rare book, very limited quantities available
In Writers at the Movies 26 Contemporary Authors Celebrate 26 Memorable Movies.
In this anthology edited by Jim Shepard twenty-six contemporary fiction writers and poets offer short essays on a single movie that inspired, seduced, horrified, or fascinated them, giving readers a rare glimpse of the writer's perspective on film.
What people say:
"As a fan of Jim Shepard's fiction, I picked up this anthology of essays by fiction writers and poets with enthusiasm and was not disappointed. After reading J.M. Coetzee's thoughts on John Huston's "The Misfits," I understood the movie in a more interesting way. I had no interest in seeing Titanic, but after Lorrie Moore described it as 'part Wild Kingdom, part Lady Chatterley's Lover,' I succumbed.." — Elizabeth Taylor, literary editor Chicago Tribune
"This evocative and challenging collection will captivate devotees of film and literature." — Publishers Weekly
"Postmodern heaven." — Boston Sunday Globe
About the Editor:
Jim Shepard is the author of six novels and two short story collections, one of which was a finalist for the National Book Award. A frequent contributor to The Believer and the New York Times Book Review, he teaches at Williams College and in the Warren Wilson MFA program.
