About the Author:

Beatrice Manley (1921-2002) was a Broadway actress who played classics at Lincoln Center and co-founded San Francisco Actors' Workshop with husband Herbert Blau, Jules Irving and Priscilla Pointer. She authored five plays, two librettos and three books, including An Actor's Dickens.
