About the Book:
Art by Committee is a must read if you are seeking to improve your improv skills.
This guidebook for the best in improvisation performance is a sequel to the best-selling improv book, Truth in Comedy. It is designed to help you move up to the more advanced levels of improvisation using the "yes" concept with improv performers. The companion DVD is a valuable learning tool featuring performers in action demonstrating the instructions and ideas covered in the book Art by Committee. The DVD includes performances by four popular improv groups: Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB), Beer Shark Mice, Armando Diaz Theatrical Experience, The Reckoning, and assorted short clips with Peter Hulne. Also on the DVD are interviews with many celebrity improv artists including: Tina Fey, Rachel Dratch, Amy Poehler, Stephanie Weir, Tim Meadows, Andy Dick, and Adam McKay.
The book Art by Committee is divided into 3 parts:
• 1. Art by Committee Forms deals with the New Harold, Tag Outs and Monologues
• 2. The Improviser is a general commentary of what makes good improvisation.
• 3. History tells more about Del Close and his work with the author over the years.
