About
the Book:
This is it! The real story of what goes on behind the scenes. Your
first time on a set – any set, whether you're starting work on a
film or guest starring on an hour episodic – is always a new
experience, with new people to meet and many unknown elements.
The Camera Smart Actor is very accessible book that
provides you with an exclusive and much needed look at the inner
workings of a film set. The author discovered on his first day of
acting for a TV movie that years of experience in stage acting and
graduate education can be inadequate for the technical requirements
of film acting. Professional actor and
teacher Richard Brestoff wrote this book in the hopes
that other actors making the transition from stage to film will be
better prepared. By following an actor on his first day of work you
encounter the jargon, the situations, the people, the failures and
successes of a real world camera job. It's the next best thing to
being there.
The Camera Smart Actor, written with a rare combination of humour and
insight, covers all aspects of the camera actor's world including a
fascinating look at the ever-shifting media landscape – with new technologies competing for viewers' attention. Become camera smart yourself
so that when you get the job you'll be ready.
What people say:
"The Camera Smart Actor
by Richard Brestoff is an absolute necessity. He
understands what it's like to be on the set for the first time and in
nearly 250 pages tells you what you will need to know technically.
Bring the book with you and reread it in your dressing room.."
