About the Play:

A Comedy of Tenors is a full-length comedy by Ken Ludwig. The characters from the Tony Award-winning comedy Lend Me a Tenor are backthis time set amidst the glitz and glamour of 1930s Paris for a star-studded concert. As opening night draws near, prepare for an uproarious ride, full of mistaken identities, bedroom hijinks, and madcap delight in this laugh-out-loud farce.

A Comedy of Tenors is the hilarious sequel to Lend Me a Tenor. One hotel suite, four tenors, two wives, three girlfriends, and a soccer stadium filled with screaming fans. What could possibly go wrong? Several of the same characters from the operatic farce Lend Me a Tenor return – this time in 1930s Paris and the stage is set for the concert of the century – as long as producer Henry Saunders can keep Italian superstar Tito Merelli and his hot-blooded wife, Maira, from causing runaway chaos. Of course, everything that can go wrong does, including clandestine love affairs, romantic misunderstandings and enormous operatic egos threatening to cancel the entire concert. Filled with the crackling one-liners and frantic farce that made Lend Me a Tenor a huge hit, A Comedy of Tenors evokes the classic screwball comedies of an earlier time.

A Comedy of Tenors premiered in 2015 in a co-production at the Cleveland Playhouse in Cleveland and the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, New Jersey. Since then the play has been produced widely at professional theatres across the US and has been mounted by colleges and community theatres.
