The Love List is a full-length comedy by Norm Foster.
What are the top ten qualities in your perfect mate? Sense of Humour?
Smart? Sexy? The play is about two men who come up with a top 10 list
consisting of the best qualities in a woman. It's when the perfect
woman actually shows up that the comedic farce begins in Norm
Foster's zippy comedy tale of perfection and the pursuit of
happiness.
The Love List is a side-splitting and thought-provoking
comedy that examines the quest for perfection. For his fiftieth
birthday Bill, a lonely divorced statistician, is given a free session at "Got
a Match", a mate finding service run by a woman who guarantees
romantic success. Leon, his womanizing friend, insists he goes and to
get him primed for the appointment the two draw up their top 10 list
of qualities for the perfect woman. Smart, sexy and assertive top the
list but when Justine magically arrives the scheme goes horribly awry
almost immediately. Bill's new romance begins to seriously threaten
his friendship with Leon. Worse, Justine, an ambitious, trusting woman, starts to exhibit tiny
imperfections and Bill and Leon quickly learn that their list could
use a few revisions. Be careful what you wish for – especially in
choosing a mate. This old adage leads to hilarious results in Norm
Foster's sparkling comic hit, which is widely considered to be
his best work.
The Love List premiered in 2003 at the Thousand Island
Playhouse in Gananoque, Ontario. Since
then the play has
been produced widely
at community
theatres across North
America.
